Myrkdalen — snowy family haven in Western Norway
Myrkdalen is the largest ski resort in Western Norway, located in Voss valley, just two hours from Bergen Airport. Famous for its reliable snow and excellent trails, the resort offers slopes for all levels — from gentle beginner runs to high-speed zones and spectacular off-piste freeride. It is ideal for families: children’s areas include conveyor lifts and “magic carpets,” plus snow parks and ski-cross tracks. In total, Myrkdalen has about 32 km of slopes and nine lifts, including express gondolas providing easy access to the mountains.
Ski season and hours
The winter season in Myrkdalen runs from mid-November until the end of April, with opening often starting in November and closing by early May. Lifts generally operate daily from 9:30 to 16:00, with extended hours from February onward. Evening skiing is also available during the season.

Events and festivals
Myrkdalen is not only about skiing — it also has a lively cultural atmosphere with seasonal events:
- Fjellatter (Sept 12–13, 2025): a stand-up comedy festival bringing well-known comedians and an entertaining program of humor and shows.
- Pudder After-ski: music and après-ski evenings throughout winter, including DJ performances (e.g., DJ Splint on Jan 17), evening sessions, musical bingo during winter holidays, concerts, and lively gatherings in March and April.
Best months to visit
- November – early December: season opening with reliable snow and fewer crowds.
- January – March: peak activity with regular skiing, après-ski, and entertainment.
- April: softer spring snow, festive atmosphere, and après-ski with live music.
- September: time for the Fjellatter festival — a perfect autumn highlight.
