Backyard Kristiansand 2025

Backyard Kristiansand follows the classic backyard-ultra concept with a local twist: an undulating loop of ~6.7 km starts every hour on the hour. Make it back before the next whistle to continue; miss the next start and you’re out. This edition is capped at 12 rounds (80.4 km if you complete them all).

Why This Event is a Must-Experience

Each round covers ~6.7 km, and the time you take to finish becomes your rest before the next start. Runners share the same start/finish corral, creating a friendly atmosphere where pacing, fueling, and mental grit are tested side by side. Results are based on the number of loops completed, with the winner decided in the 12th and final round if multiple runners remain.

It’s as social as it is tough: you run together, rest together, and encourage each other, making it both accessible for newcomers and rewarding for experienced ultrarunners.

Located at Gimlehallen on the Lund side of Kristiansand, the event is just minutes from the city centre and waterfront paths. It’s easy to combine the race with a weekend of sea views, cosy cafés, and strolls along the harbour — turning a backyard challenge into a full city experience.
