Why This Event is a Must-Experience

Scandinavia’s leading biennial for boundary-pushing performing arts, METEOR transforms Bergen into a stage for international and Norwegian creators. The festival celebrates experimentation in all its forms, ranging from immersive installations and 3D performances to music-driven theatre and unconventional site-specific works. More than a showcase, it’s a city-wide cultural moment that redefines how audiences can experience performance.

Each day brings a curated programme that blends formats and disciplines. Alongside headline productions, visitors can join workshops, artist talks, and seminars — an invitation to go deeper into the creative process and engage directly with the artists. Tickets are available through BIT Teatergarasjen, with many events drawing strong demand thanks to their innovative and often one-off nature.

What sets METEOR apart is its focus on new encounters. Whether you’re a practitioner seeking fresh inspiration or an audience member curious about the next frontier in theatre and performance, the festival offers rare opportunities for discovery and dialogue.

Set across Bergen’s cultural hubs — from USF Verftet on the harbour to galleries like Lysverket — the festival is easy to weave into a full city outing. Bergen’s compact layout makes it simple to pair shows with a walk by the waterfront, a gallery visit, or dinner in the historic centre, turning each performance into part of a broader cultural journey.
